Communicating with the Difficult Patient
Being a new clinician is daunting. Between finding your footing as the sole provider and trying to apply all the information you learned in school, your first years in the clinic are difficult enough before you even factor in the complexities that patients bring to the table.
In this one day course, participants will learn how to more effectively manage the “difficult” patients. These aren’t the patients that come in with their neatly organized exercise chart. No these are the ones that make you still wish you had a CI. Through a series of case studies, we’ll explore the some of the common problems when patients are angry, aren’t getting better, or just don’t want to get on board with the treatment plan. You’ll learn interviewing techniques, improve your patient education, and learn how to use the objective exam as a teaching tool, and overall how to see things from the patient’s point of view.
